Discreet technology that enhances peace of mind, safety and dignity in later life Dormy Care Communities has long believed in embracing innovation that enhances, rather than replaces, human care — and smart sensor technology from Sensio, does just that. Care home residents in the UK experience an estimated total of 4,438 falls every day, making falls one of the leading causes of hospital admissions. Fall management technology helps bridge the gap between detection and prevention through continuous, non-intrusive monitoring. Using discreet infrared sensors rather than cameras, care teams are alerted to potential risks and changes in activity. If a resident leaves their room or gets out of bed at an unusual time, teams can carry out a quick digital check before intervening.

By providing greater insight into movement patterns and routines, these tools help reduce unnecessary hospital admissions while enabling residents to remain safely in the familiar surroundings of their care home. As the first UK care provider to implement Sensio’s RoomMate technology, Dormy Care Communities has since rolled it out across all locations following its success.

Helen Davies-Parsons, CEO of Dormy Care Communities, says,

The wellbeing of the ladies and gentlemen in our homes is of paramount importance and we’re delighted to be working with Sensio to create warm, safe and person-centred environments where people can live well and thrive in their older years.

“Both companies share the same values and drive for innovation in the care sector and this is a great example of what can be achieved by working in partnership.

UK country director for Sensio, Lisa Delaney adds,

Helen and the Dormy Care Communities team have been instrumental in the system’s early development and innovation. They have shown great energy and enthusiasm from day one - with the compassion and respect they show their residents, truly demonstrating person-centred care in action.”

Peace of mind for residents and families
For families and care teams across Dormy’s homes, this technology offers something invaluable - reassurance.

As one care professional at Brockington House in Herefordshire says,

“Sensio provides a significant layer of safety for residents, ensuring that if a fall occurs, help is immediately available. This instant response reduces the risk of further injury and reassures residents - giving them confidence and peace of mind. “The additional insight allows teams to have a greater understanding of residents than before and manage workloads efficiently - contributing to both resident safety and staff confidence in delivering care.”

Care that feels human, supported by innovation
At Dormy Care Communities, technology is not the focus - people are. By combining compassionate, person-centred care with trusted innovation, they continue to create homes where residents feel safe, supported and truly at ease.
