"My connection to the care sector began at the tender age of 13, when I took my first job as a carer in my best friend's family care home. It was there that I met a wonderful resident called Anna, who captured my heart and sparked a lifelong passion for caring for others.
I come from a family of nurses — my mum, grandmother and aunties all dedicated their careers to caring for people, so perhaps it's always been in my blood! My mum spent the latter part of her nursing career as a Matron in a nursing home, and I have such fond memories of visiting her and spending time getting to know the residents.
Professionally, I've been fortunate to experience the care sector from several different perspectives. Today, as National Account Manager at Sensio, I'm passionate about helping care providers embrace technology that improves resident safety, protects dignity and gives care teams more time to do what they do best — care.
On a deeply personal level, I'm also a carer for my wonderful dad, who lives with dementia. This has given me an even greater appreciation of the dedication, compassion and challenges involved in caring for someone you love.
For me, care has never been just a career. It's part of who I am, and I feel incredibly fortunate to work in a sector that means so much to me."
